Babylonian captivity

As a Babylonian captivity, Jewish history from 597 BC BC. It begins with the conquest of Jerusalem and the kingdom of Judah by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II. According to the Bible, Daniel and his three friends Schadrach, Meschach and Abed-Nego are also escorted. Representing the city of Babylon, the illustration shows one of the city's five city gates, the so-called Ishtar Gate. The gate was decorated with blue glaze bricks, reliefs of bulls, lions and snake-like animals. The Ischtartor was elaborately excavated and is now a reconstruction in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.
